Made some real progress with the vocals for our record yesterday. We now have 2 songs completed. 5 to go. We decided to do it at home for the sake of comfort. Definitely a good choice. Some great energy happening with us all in the room together, no glass between us, no acoustically dead booth.... Instant feedback, seeing each others reactions... The vibe was right, and we're all really happy with the results. Here's a couple photos Sean snapped. No action shots, but you get to see Ryan's sweet new "desk".

Further Journeys Into the North Sea....
Spent a very long and rewarding day yesterday wrapping up the instrumental portion of our album. The morning started with Jared laying down some percussion overdubs. Then our friend Christopher Schudde of Mazzaroth stopped in to grace us with some guest guitar work on "The Dismal Tide". He knew what to play to fill in the cracks that Ryan left behind.
Onward into the completion of the bass re-amping, which sounds so far beyond driven... I mean massive, heavy, low-end that can loosen teeth... you get the idea. This time we used the North Sea's '69 Ampeg SVT, which finally got us the bass tone we (and especially Sean) have been hearing in our heads all along. Couldn't be happier with the way it pulled the overall sonic picture together. At times, it was like hearing the bass lines for the first time. The nuance you don't pick up on in the practice environment, or on stage. Very exciting to hear the bass-lines so clearly.
Ryan spent the remainder of the day reworking a guitar solo, and adding some overdubs here and there. Huge thanks to Eric Halder of Charmboy for loaning us his rad Telecaster with the Bigsby Tremolo, which got put to good use many times over to invoke the spirit of the surf and the old west.
We can't wait for everyone to hear this album. Couldn't be more proud of the what we've achieved thus-far. It's Mike's turn to take this thing to the next level, and there is no doubt, that he will go above and beyond what we already know he is capable of.
Until next time....

August....
Big thanks to SwordPaw music, Skeletons in the Piano, and Valentines for a great show last night! Saw a lot of new faces in the audience and we're greatful for the enthusiasm and support.
August is going to be a busy month for us. We're working hard on our first record. Main guitars, drums, bass are finished. Just a few extra layers to ad, then onto vocals. Overall, I'd say this recording sounds organic, and raw, spacious, and dense... lots of peaks and valleys... certainly heavier than we could've ever imagined. Really excited for everyone to hear it.
To that end, we will be GIVING AWAY a brand new song, as part of a split promotional release with our brothers in Planet Eater, at our August 18th show with the mighty NORTHLESS!!!
Also coming up on Aug10: RINGWORM, NAILS, BITTER END, NEW LOWS, MAGGOT BRAIN @ Bogie's (Albany, NY). Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/event.php?eid=192731434093248

MORE recording news....
Bass and guitar tracking is now mostly complete. The results thusfar are bigger, clearer, and more viscious sounding than previous efforts. AND, we only had 1 V4 meltdown on us! Which, given our track record for catastrophic gear failure (at the worst possible time), is not too shabby. HUGE thanks to Christopher Schudde of Mazzaroth
for loaning us his, and effectively saving the recording.
Extremely excited about how well things are coming along. It's been intense thusfar.
On to vocals next.
